New standardized Initial Disability Insurance Medical Statement coming soon!
Read time: 1 minute
We are happy to align with the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) initiative to standardize Attending Physician’s Statements. This change is part of the CLHIA’s Reduction of Administrative Burden on Physicians initiative.
What’s changing
- The Attending Physician’s Statement (APS) will be replaced by the Initial Disability Insurance Medical Statement by the end of October.
- Now, a single form will be covering all disability products (short-term and long-term disability and salary continuance) and will be used to initiate all disability claims.
The intake of new disability claims remains unchanged. The new Medical Statement will be accessible on our Group Benefits form page shortly. It’ll apply to new claims only. We understand transitions take time and as such, should a Plan Member submit an existing APS, we will accept it and proceed with adjudicating the claim.
We know that some Clients have customized APS, and we will reach out with next steps in the coming weeks.
