There has been an estimated $3.5 billion lost due to unmanaged menopause symptoms. This includes $3.3 billion in lost income due to a reduction of hours/leaves and $237M lost in productivity. Clients are losing income due to women leaving the workforce in their prime years.

In our ongoing support for the Menopause Foundation of Canada (MFC), we’re happy to share their new report, Menopause and Nursing in Canada, created in partnership with the BC Nurses Union. Last year, we shared MFC’s report, Menopause and Work in Canada as a part of the Menopause Works Here campaign. We also shared the Menopause Inclusive playbook for employers. Although focused on nursing, this report builds on our previous research to create awareness about the effects of menopause. It provides insights for all employers on the importance of menopause education at work and the value in improving benefits plans.

How can you help?

There has been a 14% drop in working women in Canada between the ages of 45 and 59. Encourage your Clients to read the resources provided in the sponsor Focus Update. This will help them understand how they can protect a valuable segment and retain top talent. The resources play a key role in making it easier for employers to have conversations about menopause and break down the ongoing stigma, ultimately creating a menopause-inclusive workplace.
