Our new Opioid Management Solution (OMS)
We’re enhancing our safety measures for plan members and eligible dependents who take prescribed opioid medications. Opioids are one of the most highly addictive prescribed medications on the market. And we know the health and safety of plan members is very important to you.
That’s why, in collaboration with our Pharmacy Benefits Manager, we’re introducing an opioid management program as an additional resource to help you support those taking opioids. You don’t have to pay anything extra to include our OMS with your existing drug plan.
This program allows you to:
- prevent excess opioid use,
- reduce costs associated with opioid-related health issues for your plan members and eligible dependents.
To promote the safe use of opioids, there are two types of controls available with OMS. You can add them to your plan individually or in combination:
- Drug supply limit: focuses on minimizing early opioid exposure and preventing excess opioid medication use by applying a limit on the drug supply.
- Daily dose limit: promotes safer use of opioid medications by applying daily dose limits.

You can learn more about our Opioid Management Solution here. Once you add it to your plan, we’ll provide you with flyers you can share with plan members that explain the program.
If plan members have questions related to their opioid prescription, we recommend they contact the doctor who prescribed the medication or a pharmacist.
